The idea of starting a New Romanian Shakespeare edition was preceded by the enlargement of the Shakespeare canon in Romania via the translation and publication of The Two Noble Kinsmen (by Polirom, as a bilingual edition, in 2002) and Edward III (2003), previously unknown to the general public, the theatre goers or theatre critics in Romania.
